Case in point is a song tentatively called "It's True Love," which the band unveiled last month at Summerfest in Milwaukee. The way things are looking now, it's probably not even going to make the cut for album number two.

"We hadn't played a show in a while, and we wanted to play something new, but that song's probably not even going to make the record at this point," guitarist Ryan Ross told MTV News at last weekend's Virgin Festival in Baltimore. "We've changed a lot of what we want to do with the record. And I feel like we're happier with the new songs we have so far than we ever were with any of the old songs on the last record."

Change seems to be the theme these days for Panic, who made waves earlier this year when they announced they had retired to a cabin in Nevada to begin writing the follow-up to A Fever You Can't Sweat Out. Then in April the band forced the WTF-meter into the red with an open plea to land Dr. Dre as a producer for the new, yet-untitled album.

Through all that, they were still working off the template Ross laid down last year: to create a "modern fairy tale." And while that's still the case, it looks like things are — you guessed it — changing yet again.

"We wrote a bunch of songs that we were happy with, and we liked 'em a lot, but we just weren't having as much fun as we should've been, you know?" bassist Jon Walker said. "Things are pretty good for us right now, and we're pretty happy, and I think that is gonna come out more in these songs. We spent the past year and a half playing a bunch of songs that have weird melodies and weirder phrasings, [and] long words that [frontman] Brendon [Urie] still can't pronounce all that well. We're just trying to write songs that we have fun playing."

And it turns out that means adhering to a heretofore un-adhered-to concept, K.I.S.S.: Keep It Simple, Stupid.

"We wanted to approach these songs in the most basic form," Ross said. "We wrote them all on one acoustic guitar and with someone singing. I think that we kind of skipped that part of songwriting on the first record, and this time we're sort of paying attention to that. We moved into a cabin in the mountains, and then we went to L.A. and worked there for a while. And then we came home [to Las Vegas] a month ago and got into our old rehearsal studio, where we wrote the last record — and we've written a bunch of songs since we've been home. I think it's the most fun and the happiest we've been since we started."

While there's still no firm date for just when we'll get to hear the fruits of those happy labors, Panic said that they're in no rush to get album number two out there, despite some of the pressure they're starting to feel from their most ardent fans.

"We haven't any problem with our label at all. I don't think we've talked to one person from our label since we started writing," drummer Spencer Smith said. "I know a lot of bands have issues with their label, but we don't.

"A couple of my mom's coworkers are pissed, though," he laughed. "They want new songs."

Ryan a des jambes de trois kilomètres O_o (que j'aime beaucoup d'ailleurs, elles sont trop trop longues !)
J'ai pas trop compris l'histoire des erreurs et de Brendon qui se plante dans les lyrics par contre >_> (j'ai été déconcentrée ! XD) (et puis je comprends rien à ce que dit le journaliste >_> Les mecs de Panic! ça va, mais lui...)
Prochain album normalement au début 2008 ^^

Bon ben moi je suis en vacances, donc pas chez moi et sur ce pc là faut tout installer donc je verrais plus tard...

LAS VEGAS — Despite what you might've previously thought ... and despite what their label's online store tells you, Panic! at the Disco's upcoming album isn't their second, but rather, their third.

"We've had quite an interesting last nine months," guitarist Ryan Ross said. "We were in the mountains for a while, writing songs, and we moved to L.A. for a bit, and then we decided to start over in July. So now we're kind of trying to finish writing this second second record. Actually, it's almost like our third record, since we were like three-quarters finished with the other one before we scrapped it."

By now, the process of making album number thr — uh, two, has been about as well-documented as it has been confusing: Sessions started in earnest earlier this year, when Panic took up residence in a log cabin to begin writing songs which the band had apparently scrapped — in favor of more stripped-back numbers — by the time MTV News spoke with them in August. But up until now, no one was really sure why the band decided to trash an album's worth of material (though some have certainly had suspicions).

So, RyRo ... care to fill us in?

"We were just piecing stuff together up in the cabin. We would take lyrics, and we didn't really have ... a band set up," he explained. "We were just writing on pianos and guitars separately and just throwing other things in there, and it didn't really sound like a band, it sounded like a film score.

"We went through a stage of writing that just happened because we were on tour for so long, and we were sick of those old songs so much that we decided to write songs that were really complicated and challenging for us," he continued. "Then we realized that it's not going to be any fun to play these live either, so we decided to ditch the whole project. There was a story line throughout the whole record, a short story, and we decided to put that on the shelf and just start playing as a band, and it's been a lot better."

So that means that the "love story" Ross mentioned back in April seems to have been jettisoned. But what are the new new songs about then?

"We've got about six or seven songs that are pretty much complete ... and [they're] a lot more uplifting. They've got a more positive outlook to them. It's kind of hard to write a bunch of sad songs if you're not sad anymore," Ross said. "I guess they're pretty different than the songs on the first album. I mean, we wrote those songs like three to four years ago, so obviously we've changed a lot in terms of everything — what we like and what we think is good."

Ross wouldn't say just when Panic plan to enter the studio to begin recording the follow-up to A Fever You Can't Sweat Out, but drummer Spencer Smith was more than willing to let loose with the information: First and foremost, Panic will be staying at home to work on the album, recording it in the Studio at the Palms (it's the same ultra-slick Vegas spot that the Killers chose to record their Sam's Town album) And when will fans be able to hear some actual music?

"We want to have the new single out by the end of the year, probably around Christmas," Smith said. "And then have the album out in February. We hope."

Non, en gros Ryan dit que les chansons qu'ils avaient écrit étaient tellement différentes de ce qu'ils avaient pu faire avant qu'ils auraient pu créer un autre groupe pour les jouer (ironiquement).

N'empêche ils s'amusent bien avec ce nouvel album à nous mettre du suspense et tout ça. L'article de MTV est d'ailleurs assez intéressant parce que on en fait tout un plat pour ! et eux ils s'amusent à mettre 2 points qui servent à rien dans le titre de l'album!
